DO I HAVE TO BOOK A WHOLE TERM? Monkey Feet sessions run for a 8 week term. However, Monkey Feet sessions are designed so you don't have to wait for a new term. You can join at any stage. You can book casual sessions from week to week but due to limited places we are not able to guarantee you a place in the session. We also offer discounts for bookings of 3 or more sessions. DO I STAY? Yes, the parent/carer is responsible for their child during the session and is encouraged to get involved during the activities and to have a go themselves. Evidence suggests that children gain far more confidence when their parent/carer is actively encouraging and supporting them in their explorations. I HAVE TWO CHILDREN UNDER SIX YEARS. WHAT IS THE BEST SESSION FOR US TO ATTEND?
Children love being among other children, especially in mixed age groups. Younger children gain so much from mixing and observing older children and older children can share their 'wisdom', skills and top tips with the little ones. It allows a one year old and their four year old sibling to use similar materials but be fascinated in different ways. Younger and older children are able to observe and learn from one another, and realize that others do things differently to them..... and that, that's okay.
Monkey Feet therefore have a mixed age group from children who are just sitting up to children who are six years. We offer a discount on the session cost for more than one child from the same family.
MY CHILD RUNS AROUND AND CAN'T SIT STILL. SHOULD I WAIT UNTIL THEY ARE OLDER AS I DON'T WANT TO DISRUPT THE SESSION?
Many children need to move about and explore a new environment, and that is quite okay. Eventually, over the sessions, your child will become more interested in what everyone else is doing, and if you are involved in the activities they will come and see what you are doing and will start to join in.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO MONKEY FEET SESSIONS? Wear comfortable clothing that can get messy as our sessions involve getting hands on with materials such as paint. A cheap T-shirt makes a great art shirt.
You may like to bring some water and a light snack for after class but we do ask that children not consume food during the sessions. This enables us to cater for children who may suffer from food intolerances and allergies.
We encourage that you do not bring toys to sessions as they can be very distracting for your child and other children. They may also be damaged by slime, goop or other materials that we use. Please inform us if your child has an emotional attachment or security need for a toy in class.
WHAT ARE MESSY MONKEY SUNDAYS?
Messy Monkey Sundays give families who may not have the chance during the week or are looking for something fun and different to do occasionally on a Sunday an opportunity to get messy. The sessions run in the same way as our other sessions but only occur once a month. Sessions are charged at $14.50 per child.
